Shoplifters

Are there any shoplifters in Thailand? I never hear of such a thing, except the occasional item in the Pattaya News pages perhaps. In most shops it also seems extraordinarily easy to let something slide in your pocket. Are Thai people more honest than others or is this simply not deemed noteworthy for the news? Inquiring gay Asian minds want to know.
